FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES “LIMITED EDITION” MEAN?
A limited edition is a limited run of artwork, which is numbered and signed by the artist. The limited number of prints in an edition may yield a collectible piece of art. The artist, Susan Kare, hand signs and numbers all limited edition prints in the lower right corner directly under the image. We currently offer up to five print sizes for most images as limited editions. Once an edition sells out it will no longer be available. However, we may feature a particular icon in more than one print (e.g. a design with a smiling and unhappy computer together), or an icon in various colors or on a variety of background colors.

WHAT PRINTING METHOD IS USED FOR THE PRINTS?
All of our giclee prints are created using archival Canon Pro Inks on fine art Hahnemüle Photo Rag paper. This is an acid-free bright white 100% cotton paper ideal for reproducing high contrast images. It is smooth paper (not toothy).

WHAT EXACTLY IS GICLEE?
Giclée is French for “fine spray”. It is a method of reproducing art through a printing process very similar to modern inkjet printers. We use archival Canon Pro Inks.

DO THE COLORS OF THE ACTUAL PRINTS 
LOOK LIKE THE IMAGES I SEE ON MY COMPUTER?
We have tried to represent the prints accurately online. However, since the colors you see depend on your device settings, we cannot guarantee an identical match between screen images and prints on paper.

CAN I GET A CUSTOM SIZED PRINT MADE?
It is our pleasure to quote requests for custom sizes larger than our 30 x 40 size prints. Please email your request and include print name, desired paper size (image size will be smaller to allow appropriate margins) with “Custom Size Request” in the subject line.

HOW DO GIFT CARDS WORK?
After you purchase a gift card, you'll receive an email order confirmation as well as a separate email with a link to your digital gift card, which contains a unique code. You can forward the email to your recipient or print the digital gift card. At checkout, your recipient will enter the code. If a balance is due they will be asked to enter a form of payment. If no balance is due, they will complete their order and any remaining balance will be available for a future purchase at Kare Prints using the same code. We recommend that you keep a record of the code before giving as Kare Prints does not have access to gift card codes. Gift cards are non-refundable and do not expire.

DO YOU ENTERTAIN WHOLESALE OPPORTUNITIES?
We are delighted to consider wholesale arrangements and terms vary based on the details. Please email your request and include print names, quantities, desired paper sizes (image sizes will be smaller to allow appropriate margins) with “Wholesale Request” in the subject line.

DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS?
For orders of 10 prints or more, we'd be happy to extend an industry discount and terms vary based on the details. Please email your request and include print names, quantities, desired paper sizes (image sizes will be smaller to allow appropriate margins) with “Volume Discount Request” in the subject line.

HOW WILL I KNOW THAT YOU RECEIVED MY ORDER?
You will receive an email confirmation after you’ve placed your order, which also serves as your order confirmation. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam and then contact us if needed.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?
All of our artwork is custom printed, inspected for quality, and hand signed by the artist, Susan Kare. Prints typically ship within 2-3 weeks of the order date. On occasion we may have a handful of prints in stock or a special holiday print run in which case you may receive your prints sooner than expected. 

HOW MUCH DOES SHIPPING COST?

HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN MY ORDER SHIPS?
You will receive an email with a tracking number when your order is ready to be shipped. 

HOW DO YOU SHIP THE PRINTS?
The 8.5″ x 11″ prints are carefully packaged and shipped in a padded envelope within a sturdy flat cardboard mailer with “DO NOT BEND” stickers affixed. The 4 other sizes are carefully rolled in a 3″ diameter tube (up to 4 prints per tube). For shipping prices and lead times, please see our shipping policy.

WHAT IF MY PRINT GETS LOST IN THE MAIL OR ARRIVES DAMAGED?

CAN I MAKE A COPY OF THE PRINT ONCE I OWN IT?
You may not use or copy any images for any reason without prior permission, even if the use is noncommercial, not for profit, education, or for your own private use. If you would like permission to use an image, please email us. 

DO YOU OFFER GIFT PACKAGING (BOX/WRAPPING)?

DO YOU OFFER CUSTOM INSCRIPTIONS?
Our apologies, but we do not offer this service at this time.

DO YOU OFFER FRAMING SERVICES?
We do not offer framing services at this time. We recommend consulting with a trusted framer to properly frame your print. If you are in the Bay Area we highly recommend Photoworks in San Francisco.
